Engineering Clean Air Newsletter: June 2010 Edition | Engineering Clean Air E-Newsletter Brought to You by Purafil Technical Services | | | | | | Natural Events, Unnatural Effects This month, on a suggestion from one of Purafil's representatives in England; we are going to depart somewhat from the standard format of our newsletter. George Colman of Prisma Services Ltd. in England (www.prismaservices.com) proposed that "As the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull continues to discharge particulates and gases into the atmosphere, perhaps it is a good opportunity for Purafil to be on the cutting edge with advice to both customers and representatives in your Engineering Clean Air e-newsletter. George goes on to suggest that "You might want to look at this event as an opportunity to alert the engineering community to the potential risks to sensitive electronics (especially those that are RoHS compliant) and what proactive actions can be taken such as checking that gaseous filters are being monitored and serviced and possibly recommending a change in media type(s) to assure the appropriate media is in place to address potential new contaminant types - both gaseous and particulates."
So thanks to Mr. Colman, this month we are going to take a look at how natural events can affect us in ways the news reports don't always cover. Specifically, we are going to look at how a volcanic eruption on a small island nation in the North Atlantic Ocean could have long-term effects on industry in Europe and points beyond.
| Purafil's scientists and researchers publish this monthly e-newsletter specifically for the engineering community. This exclusive newsletter will include information and explanations on the latest technology changes, regulations, standards, solutions, research findings and other information of value to consulting and specifying engineers.
Please feel free to forward to your engineering colleagues (link at the bottom of this email) and have them join the Engineering Clean Air e-newsletter community.
