Complementary Media Life Analysis: Purafil’s laboratory analyzes samples of media from your air scrubber to determine the remaining life. A date for replacement can then be scheduled to ensure the protected space is not exposed to gas breakthrough or media is replaced prematurely.

Purafil’s patented, odor-scrubbing media are the core of our systems. We engineer and manufacture our media from raw ingredients to ensure their superior removal capacity against hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, aldehydes, organics, and many other odorous gases. Our granular media are UL Classified, non-toxic, non-hazardous, and landfill disposable. Purafil  combines the following engineered media in your Purafil odor scrubber to ensure complete control of sewage odors:

Typical Purafil Wastewater Odor Control Media:

Odorcarb™ Ultra Media – The First activated alumina-based media that removes 0.30 grams (g) of odorous hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) per cubic centimeter (cc) of media.

Odormix™ SP Media – Broad range odor removal used in final or "polishing" stage.  50:50 volume blend of Odoroxidant SP and Odorkol.  This media demonstrates a higher working capacity for broad-spectrum oxidation of contaminants in actual field conditions, where multiple gas challenges are present. The Purafil SP Series has been specially engineered to contain more permanganate (the active ingredient) for increased removal capacity, allowing the media to remain more available for removal of target gases. Purafil’s Odormix™ SP (patent-pending) Media offers broad spectrum removal of odorous gases related to sewerage treatment operations.

Odoroxidant™ SP Media – Powerful oxider for hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, nitric oxide and formaldehyde.  Demonstrates a higher working capacity for broadspectrum oxidation of contaminants in actual field conditions, where multiple gas challenges are present. Odoroxidant™ SP has been specially engineered to contain more permanganate (the active ingredient) for increased removal capacity, allowing the media to remain more available for removal of target gases. Odoroxidant™ SP Media demonstrates a high removal capacity for sewage gases, including hydrogen sulfide, aldehydes, sulfur dioxide and many organic compounds.

OdorKol™ Media - Ensures complete removal of hydrocarbons, allowing remaining media stages to remove other gases.

Triple Blend Media - Removes the widest variety of odors and gases from municipal and wastewater applications. Triple-Blend Odor Control Media contains a 50:25:25 blend, respectively of Odorcarb™ Ultra, Odoroxidant™ SP and Odorkol™ engineered dry-chemical media. This unique combination of Purafil media formulations removes common gases found in municipal applications such as hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, sulfur dioxide, organic acids, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as well as lower molecular weight aldehydes and hydrocarbons.

Purafil® Chlorosorb® Ultra Media – Removes chlorine gas (Cl2) in below freezing temperatures. This is the highest capacity available in the industry with 15% minimum by weight chlorine gas removal capacity.

PuraCarb® Media – Designed for neutralization of chlorine (Cl2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide(SO2), this media is manufactured specifically for the corrosive environments and consists of generally spherical, porous pellets.

PuraCarb® AM Media – Targets ammonia (NH3) and amines.

Purafil® CSO™ Media - Emergency removal of chlorine (Cl2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) gases.

Purafil® SP Blend Media - 50:50 volume blend of SP and Purakol. Demonstrates a higher working capacity for broad-spectrum oxidation of contaminants in actual field conditions where multiple gas challenges are present.

Purafil® Select Media - Removes sulfur oxides and other odorous pollutants from makeup air.  Automobiles and other sources of fossil fuel combustion produce these pollutants. In return air applications, Purafil Select removes emissions from office furnishings and human bioeffluents.

Vessel Scrubber - Sized for airflows from 8,000 to 20,000 cfm, the Vessel Scrubbers mitigates the largest contaminant loads at large headworks, full treatment plants, and large digesters.

Dual Bed Vessel Scrubber - Sized for airflows from 12,000 to over 20,000 cfm, the Vessel Scrubbers mitigates the largest contaminant loads at large headworks, full treatment plants, and large digesters.

Parallel Bed Scrubber- Sized for airflows from 8,000 to 40,000+ cfm and mitigates high concentrations of odorous gases from screening rooms, headworks, large pump stations, large digesters and full treatment plants.  

Purafil Vent Scrubber- ideal for removal of odorous gases from municipal vent pipes with a 99.5+% gas removal efficiency. These inexpensive passive vent scrubbers are perfect for small vent applications and come standard with Purafil’s Odormix™ SP media which is designed to remove a broad spectrum of odorous gases including mercaptans, hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulfide and general sewer odors. Purafil offers two different models (PV40 and PV150) with a variety of options to meet your unique clean air challenges.

Emergency Gas Scrubber- Designed to remove the entire contents of a fully loaded cylinder or storage units containing 150 pounds, 1-ton, 2-tons, 3-tons or more of chlorine (Cl2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) or ammonia (NH3) gas releases due to a leak.  Discharges less than 25 parts per billion.
