PURAFIL NEWS

Purafil Technical Director, Chris Muller, was recently named the recipient of the 2008 Maurice Simpson Technical Editors Award by the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST). Chris was nominated for his comprehensive, technical paper entitled, Comparison of Chemical Filters for the Control of Airborne Molecular Contamination. The paper was published in the 2007 Journal of the IEST, garnering Chris an award traditionally presented to authors of the best technical papers published by the IEST during the preceding year.

FRONT ACCESS SYSTEM

Purafil Front Access System
Outside makeup air is a primary source of airborne molecular contaminants (AMC) in cleanrooms. This air often contains high quantities of chemical contaminants — ozone, oxides of sulfur and nitrogen, and volatile organic compounds — which can jeopardize process reliability and product performance.

Because large amounts of outside air are required to ventilate and pressurize the cleanroom facility, Purafil offers the Front Access System (FAS). The FAS is a modular system available in a variety of sizes and configurations to mitigate high AMC concentrations and meet higher airflow requirements. The Purafil FAS is also incorporated into recirculation air handlers to further polish contaminated airstreams and reduce AMC levels.

The Purafil FAS is designed to be integrated with the overall HVAC system. The FAS consists of modular steel or aluminum frames, which house Purafil MediaPAK™ modules —disposable media containers which are factory-filled with the customer’s choice of Purafil’s patented media. The Front Access Systems are installed as built-up banks of 1 x 2 ft (305 x 610 mm) or 2 x 2 ft (610 x 610 mm) frames. This modular system offers…

• Many configuration options to meet custom space requirements
• Many bed depths for moderate to high AMC loads
• Custom-selection of final particulate filters
