Purafil, Inc. is founded in 1969. The privately-held organization assumes full responsibility for manufacturing and technical support. The Purafil® product is marketed nationally through representatives in the United States and Canada. Marbon Chemical Division sells the Purafil® product through manufacturers’ representatives serving the mechanical and industrial HVAC markets.
Borg-Warner assigns Marbon Chemical Division with full market responsibility for the manufacture of the Purafil® product.
Borg-Warner explores manufacturing techniques for the Purafil® product under contract with Kaiser Chemical, and the Colorado School of Mines manufactures developmental quantities. 1950s
York Corporation is acquired by Borg-Warner Corporation, and the Purafil® product is transferred to the Roy I. Ingersoll Laboratories, a research division of Borg-Warner.
